To access the BETA client, you don’t have to download it. Simply follow these steps within your current Steam Client:
1. Select File.
2. Click Settings.
3. Select the Account tab (It should be active by default).
4. Under “Login as a different user”, you will see “Beta Participation”. If it displays “Not Participating,” click “Change”.
5. A dialog box will pop up. Select Steam Client Candidate from the drop-down box and click OK.
6. Click Restart Steam and it will now restart itself and load the BETA client.
There is a bunch of issues that this version addresses, the full list of fixes is available here. I for one am trying it to see if my Call of Duty: World at War shows that I am playing again, as it randomly stopped a few weeks ago. Now my Steam rating is down in the gutters from its glorius 10.0 (Eagles Scream) heh..
